A Mindful Approach To A New Year

Often at the start of a year, we launch ourselves into all manner of crazy plans & regimes that are too restrictive & way too extreme, particularly if you have spent much of December not doing very much. Here at Mind Body Maintenance we believe in a gradual approach, preparing mind & body gently for more challenging things to come. After all if you were going to climb a mountain or swim the channel you wouldn’t go straight out & do it, you would make sure you have the right tools, prepare yourself mentally & bit by bit increase the distances you travel & the strength you need. Year after year I see people come to class having embarked on an exercise plan with no thought of control, alignment & good technique only to injure themselves within the first few weeks. So before you hit the deck for 20 burpees, take a step back, think what you want to achieve & how you are going to get there without causing stress or injury. Set some intentions rather than resolutions.
